So this is what happened to me. I spent $100 for a highly comparable to sentry, highly rated Amazon safe. I loved it, but had misplaced the keys. I had quite a bit of money and checks that have since gone bad, while looking for the keys. So essentially, I lost hundreds in birthday and Christmas checks, trying to save $100 safe, lol. Im laughing now because how stupid was I??? I just figured I’d find the keys, and just didn’t wanna bash open a new safe, since I couldn’t find any way to order a replacement key. Had I gone with a Sentry safe I could have gotten one, the only downfall of what I had chosen, and I wouldn’t have needed this safe at all, but I digress.
I had all of my money and certain other important items in it, and I saw this safe under the vine program. I felt it maybe was expensive for a not even Amazon brand, which I do rate right up there with big name brands. This one is clearly made in China, oddly names, so I had my doubts about it’s value/ worth, at the time.
What drew me to it, even though I at first thought the price point was a little bit high, im not at all a safe expert, so I really didn’t know how to judge pricing, is that I wanted a larger, safe place to keep my stuff, and something that if I lost the key I could still get into, although I doubt you can replace these, so be careful, and give somebody you trust, the spare.
Whelp, sad as it was to break my new safe, and it was indeed sad, it had to be done, and a few features of this I liked.
-the size is plentiful for all that I need.and more.
I love that! I’ll always come up with something new to stuff inside.
-the golden bolts, and overall fierce look of it.
- for sure the LCD screen, which no others had before this. (My own, I mean. They cost more.) A digital display on this brand certainly seemed worth the extra few bucks.
-the spare key. (It comes with two.)
My BFF has it so I won’t ever get locked out.
- it has an alarm after a few attempts at the password, gone wrong.
It’s not painstakingly loud, but if you’re in the house, you’ll hear it. I think it could well scare an intruder away.
- it’s attractive in design.
Im a girl.. the way it looks, it is appealing to me, lol 😂.
- it’s heavier than what I had.
My husband had to carry it upstairs 2 flights, and his back ached. He’s almost 60, but still, of course someone young and strong could make off with it, but the larger size and weight does help out with that potential problem.
-you can bolt it to the wall.
I’ve wanted to do this in the closet since we got it to prevent theft. Hopefully, hubby will do that soon for me. It’s a great option to have.
It seemed at this point to be worth the price, despite a foreign, unknown by me, name.
It holds a good amount of stuff. More than my last one. I like the shelves. I can keep my medication away from my kids. Important papers stay safe, and photos of my angel son.
I do NOT believe that this safe is fireproof. Im unsure of my last one, but that would be trouble if it happened, but knock on wood, I pray that we never ever experience that. It’s always a plus to have that feature though. You do pay for it!
Waterproof? Not sure, but I live in suburban NY, and the safe is 3 floors up, so im confident we won’t experience that insane amount of flooding to need worry about that. It’d again be a perk, but I don’t expect any issues *knock on wood*.
So while I''m pretty sure it won’t survive a fire, I’m fairly sure, much like the Amazon one I had, it’s not easy to break into, and will stand the test of time. I tried to break into that last one to no avail.
I’ve seen pricing on similar-sized ones that cost more, and did not have the digital LCD display. I like that fancy extra.
All in all, it’s not a bad unit, I just wish I broke into the other before I did so I could have cashed those checks 😂.
All in all, if you don’t mind it not being fire or waterproof, if that’s not a deal breaker, I think you will be quite happy with this. If the batteries die, you are still safe with your key (plural two!) keep those safe, as I learned the hard way. You need to have one on hand in case of batteries dying if you solely use the keypad for entry.
I hope my review has proven helpful to you :). 4.25 stars! 💫
